Here at RLM Landscape & Masonry we believe that a great outdoor space begins with great design. Spending time on the design process allows the client to easily visualize what we will be creating in their backyard, while also allowing us to properly execute the project in a clear and concise manner.
When you call RLM Landscaping we will ask you a few questions in regards to your project, and if you would like to proceed further we would set up a time for an initial meeting at your property. We ask at the time of the first meeting that all decision makers in the project be present. This allows us to have input from all parties on their wants and needs and creates less repetition in the future.
During the initial meeting owner Ryan Menges will meet with you at your home and evaluate the property and discuss your wants, needs and ultimate vision for your outdoor space. During our first meeting, it is a great help if you can gather photos of designs or properties that you like. Some great sources for inspiration are Houzz.com, Pinterest, Better Homes & Gardens, Martha Stuart Living, or Garden Design Magazine. This allows us to more easily communicate ideas & vision while also gathering a sense of style for your hardscape and plant materials.
If you want to proceed after the initial visit we will come out and measure your property and take measurements for grading, steps, wall heights etc. At this same time, we note existing plants you want to keep, downspouts, irrigation and other utilities on the property. As a result of the design process being so involved there are fees associated with initial design as well as revisions that may need to be made to the plan. These fees however will be credited back to you if you decide to hire us to install your project.
These plans are an investment that:
After gathering all measurement and design ideas we will go back to our office and start creating the initial design for you. You will hear from us in 2-3 weeks and we will schedule a time to sit down and review the initial design. This will give you a good visual idea of how your project is coming to life. During this meeting, we can make changes to the plan and start to finalize materials for your project.
We will also have some preliminary pricing ready at this time so that you can get an idea to where the cost of your project lies. The pricing is broken down in to different phases (demolition, excavation and grading, hardscape installation, planting installation, lighting installation etc.) in case your planning on doing this project in phases.
A week prior to your project beginning we will introduce you to your crew leader and team of artisans who will be managing your project. We will walk the property and go over the plans for you project. Your crew manager will be on site each day of your project and will communicate with you and the office with any problems or change of plans.
As we start constructing the yard of your dreams we will be bringing in heavy equipment and trucks. We will start creating staging sights for materials and excavation materials. Your yard will turn into a construction zone and there will be significant change with excavation and the associated construction. A lot of times these impacts can be shocking to customers but we assure you this is all part of creating the yard of your dreams. As your project comes together you will forget that this part of the project ever happened.
As we draw near on the hardscape and grading phases of your project the vision will really start to come together. At this time plants, mulch, sod, outdoor lighting and speakers will be brought in and installed and the site will be cleaned up like we were never even there.
Once the project is complete we will do a site walk through with you and go over how to operate grills, fireplaces/fire pits, outdoor lighting etc. We will also go over maintenance of your project in the future and address any concerns that you may have.
Now it’s time to enjoy your outdoor space!
